Nano-gold gas mask can convert poisonous gases to harmless inhalable gas

By Gaia Smith

NATIONAL TAIPEI TECHNOLOGY UNIVERSITY, TAIWAN. Taiwan’s Ministry of Education unfolded a new gas mask invention that is able to convert deadly carbon monoxide to harmless carbon dioxide.

The development of nano-gold technology is labelled as the alchemy of the 21st century. Far from it however, nano-gold has been proven to have very important uses.

A nano-mask was invented using nano-gold technology. Gold was obtained from recycled electronic products with gold wires. They were then made into catalysts that are able to hasten conversion of harmful carbon monoxide into safer carbon dioxide.

According to the research team leader Su Chao-Chin, the invention is very useful for motorists and fire-fighters that are often exposed to carbon monoxide.
