ANNA UNIVERSITY OF TECHNOLOGY, TAMIL NADU, INDIA. A mobile phone signal jammer for drivers is currently being developed for further road safety. Of course, the driver won’t be all alone in the car most of the time. The signal-blocking system won’t affect the signal of the passengers since it is only low-range. That means they may continue using their mobile phones during a car ride without disrupting the driver.
This system was developed to lower the risks of driving accidents due to mobile phone usage while driving. It is aimed to help discourage drivers engage in a mobile phone conversation while driving, even with the use of hands-free devices. That way, they will be able to focus more on driving and to keep their mind on the road.
A group of researchers in India worked together to make this innovative technology happen. A smart device will be able to tell if the person behind the wheel is using a mobile phone while driving the vehicle. Once it does, it will automatically trigger the signal jammer to block the driver’s mobile phone signal. Of course, that will prompt the driver to put the mobile phone away and focus more on driving.
Even with all the driving warnings around us, some drivers can really be stubborn about using their mobile phones while driving. Not being able to use mobile phones while driving on the road should be enough reason to end this dangerous habit. Hopefully, every vehicle around the world will have this innovative invention for safer roads in the future.
