Case Study · Market Entry

Testing whether bathrooms should track health.

A sanitaryware maker saw competitors launch toilets with health sensing features and needed to know if they met a real consumer need. We mapped the competition, the technology and the segments that would value in-bathroom health data.

The Client

The client is a sanitaryware manufacturer weighing whether integrated eHealth and eWellness monitoring belongs in its portfolio. It engaged Prescouter to build an evidence base and test it with experts before committing resources.

The Challenge

Separate need from hype.
Know who would value it.

Competitors had launched health sensing products, but public information could not show whether contactless monitoring in toilets met a real need or was a technology in search of a problem. Prescouter was asked to find out.

  • Demand

    Consumer segments

Which segments would actually value in-bathroom health data.

  • Feasibility

    What can be measured

Which measurements are technically feasible today, not just aspirational.

  • Partners

    A credible supply base

Whether proven technology partners exist to support entry.

Our Approach

Building the evidence through research and expert validation.

Competitor landscape
10competitor products

Map the field

We profiled 10 competitor products on capabilities, positioning and target customers.

Technology landscape
15technology partners

Find who can deliver

We assessed 15 potential partners on deployed technology, reputation and brand fit.

Demand deep dive
13measurable metrics

Test what matters

We reviewed 20 comparable deployments and rated 13 metrics on readiness and how their data would reach the user.

The Outcome

A clear basis for a go/no-go decision.

Prescouter recommended the customer segments to target and the measurements to prioritize for each, and set out B2B, B2C and B2B2C routes to market with the trade-offs made explicit, giving the client what it needed for an internal go/no-go decision.

  • Segments

    Who to target

Customer segments most likely to value in-bathroom health data.

  • Metrics

    What to measure

The measurements and KPIs to prioritize for each segment.

  • Routes

    How to deploy

B2B, B2C and B2B2C options, with the trade-offs of each.

A new feature earns its place when users can act on what it tells them, not simply because the sensor exists.
