Technology landscape for improving O&G field operations efficiency

About the Client:

The Client is a multinational oil & gas company. The Client wanted to develop a technology landscape that had the potential to complement their existing operation flow, with the objective of reducing costs and improving overall process efficiency. This information was to be shared with the Client’s technical personnel to help prepare a strategy for future field operations.

Challenge:

The challenge for PreScouter was to provide a high-level assessment of the operational landscape including technologies, vendors, startups, and academic studies in three areas of interest to the Client:

  • Produced water treatment
  • Carbon capture utilization and storage (CCUS)
  • Geothermal technologies

Approach:

While PreScouter’s main focus was on promising startups and academic research, the team also utilized resources including journal papers, case studies, white papers, startup profiles, press releases, outreach, and interviews with companies, researchers, and experts to aid the Client develop a landscape of technologies. In particular, subject matter experts (SMEs) were engaged during the CCUS research and outreach conducted to promising startups in the geothermal space.

Outcome:

The PreScouter team presented their findings to the Client via 6 Intelligence Briefs as well as providing a final report and recommendations. 

Impact of PreScouter’s work:

The Client used PreScouter’s insights to inform strategic decisions in the areas of CCUS and the hydrogen production and value chain.
