Using Shoes In Charging Your Smart Phone

Using Shoes In Charging Your Smart Phone

By Shinji Tutoru

NATIONAL COUNCIL OF SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY, KENYA, AFRICA. Anthony Mutua has developed sneakers with ultra-thin chip of crystals fitted to shoe soles, that can serve as chargers for mobile phones. When the shoes are put under pressure, they can generate electricity that can charge mobile or smart phones.

A number of citizens in Kenya have been using their mobile phones in getting information about safety and health concerns. One of their major obstacles is that they only have limited power supply so they cannot maintain their mobile phones have full battery capacity. This has been one of the motivations why Anthony Mutua developed sneakers that can serve as chargers for mobile phones.

This invention capitalizes the human body’s energy in generating electricity that will charge electronic products. The shoe charges the mobile phone after a run or a walk by its wearer since the ultra-thin chip of crystals can store electric energy. It can also charge the phone when the user is in motion via an extension cable that is connected from the shoe to the pocket.

The chip can be inserted inside the sole of any shoe except for bathroom slippers. It has a two and a half year warranty and can cost around $46. This is great news for people who enjoy walking, jogging, running or for those that lead active lifestyles. The more active a person is, the more charging capacity his or her shoe has.

This invention will benefit those who live in areas that have poor power or electrical infrastructure. It also promotes healthy living since people are encouraged to stay active and exercise. Also, the dependency to electrical consumption is being minimized. It will empower anyone who is dependent on the use of electronic gadgets. It will also create a better awareness of harnessing clean sources of energy.
